What does a CUYLM Executive do?

The CUYLM Executive Committee is a 12–15-person committee made up of young leaders from credit unions across Manitoba. CUYLM Executives are responsible for engaging emerging young leaders across the province by organizing our mentorship program, bi-annual conference and other interesting initiatives.

What is the time commitment required to be a CUYLM Executive?

On an average, 3-4 hours per month. In addition, the committee meets in person twice a year, on average for 2 days each. Notice is provided when full day meetings are required.

What does the committee look like? What does it mean to be a CUYLM Executive?

The committee is made up of 12-15 young leaders from across Manitoba Credit Unions. The committee has a Chair, a Vice-Chair and 3 sub-committees:

  • Awareness sub-committee – Organizes annual mentorship program.

  • Engagement sub-committee – Manages communication and engagement across CUYLM’s social media platforms. Plans and produces content for CUYLM’s newsletter, including credit union career profiles.

  • Activities sub-committee – Plans and organizes bi-annual CUYLM conference. Maintains CUYLM’s Learning Commons.

In addition to the above, the sub-committees come up with new initiatives every year during our annual Strategic Planning session in January, which is then executed throughout the year.

The committee also organizes and participates in a learning day every year.

Why is manager approval needed to apply for the committee?

It is required so that your manager, as well as your credit union, acknowledges and approves of your participation and time contributed toward CUYLM.

My manager is currently on vacation, can I still apply?

Yes, but manager approval will be needed if you are selected to serve on the committee.

What does the selection process look like? Will there be an interview?

Selection for the CUYLM Executive Committee is based on applications submitted via our application form. We do not interview applicants.

My question is not included in the FAQ list. How can I get an answer?
